As a continuation from my last Blog on 27 June 2021, I have expanded on the ideas of things to photograph when you can't think of anything to take a picture of (that was in my May Facebook and Instagram posts) below:-
WATER
Sprinklers, rivers, waterfalls, streams, waterdrops, raindrops on windows, add water and food colouring, ocean, waves.

📸 Use Sparkling water and a lemon/orange in a glass;
📸 Take a photo of the rain on your windows from inside your house;

📸 Take a photo of a cobweb with raindrops or dew on it;
📸 Add some kitchen oil to your water, food colouring and then take a photo;
📸 Use a light box, add an interesting coloured background, a bowl of water and then use an eye dropper to drip water while taking a photo;
📸 Take a photo of the waves crashing into some rocks;
📸 Take a photo of the water running over your feet at the beach;
📸 Capture the motion of a river, stream or a wave by setting your Shutter Speed around ½ second to 1 second in length to capture the movement of the water (a tripod is also a must);
📸 Capture water cascading down a waterfall (and made to look like silk) by setting your Shutter Speed around 1 second to 2 seconds (a tripod is also a must);
📸 Experiment with your settings to see if you can make the ocean “still” and “flat”.
BUBBLES
Soap bubbles, bubble blowing.
📸 Try and capture the “rainbow” in soap bubbles – experiment with different lighting;
📸 Capture bubbles on the leaves, branches or petals of plants/flowers;
📸 Use different objects to make different size bubbles;
📸 Capture your children or pets playing with bubbles;

📸 Capture bubbles in your drinks (such as soft drinks, coffee);

📸 Add food colouring to a bubble mix, blow some bubbles and take a photo;
📸 Take close-ups of your bubbles (best to use a tripod and self-timer for this to minimise motion blur and use “Burst Mode” to continuously shoot);

📸 Take a shot of the bubble as it pops;
📸 To make a good bubble mix – Mix together some liquid soap (just your ordinary dishwashing liquid) and a few drops of glycerine.
HOUSEHOLD ITEMS
Food, cheese grater, cutlery, textured bowls, lamps/lanterns, other textured household items, wine/alcohol; books; jewellery; light bulbs.
📸 Use a light box;
📸 Try different coloured food combinations;
📸 Try a combination of food and utensils (eg. an egg on some forks);
📸 Take a photo of the lamps/lanterns on at night but all other lights off for the silhouette look;
📸 Experiment with different angles and perspectives of various items;
📸 Take close ups of items to capture the different textures and patterns;
📸 Try your hand at food photography;
📸 Take Black and White images (eg. books);
📸 Experiment with different lighting conditions and shadows;
📸 Take a photo of a plain light bulb on different coloured paper or with different coloured backgrounds;
📸 Take photos of interesting textured figurines and pot plants.
PATTERNS AND TEXTURES
Feathers, leaves, sand grains, rocks, checker boards, wood grain, pencils, kitchenware, chairs, water ripples, roof tiles, city building windows, brickwork.
📸 Use a light box;
📸 Experiment with different angles and perspectives;
📸 Get up close to your subject to capture the different textures;
📸 Experiment with different light situations and time of day (harsh noon light, golden hour before sunset, play with backlight to make silhouettes);
📸 Fill the frame;
📸 Look for repeat patterns in buildings or objects.
KIDS TOYS
📸 Use a light box, black background and some marbles;

📸 Create scenes using Lego people and household items or the garden;
📸 Slinky’s are great to experiment with – experiment with lighting and backgrounds;
📸 Pencils are great, colourful and easy to experiment with when taking photos;
📸 Experiment with toy cars in the garden or on the lawn;
📸 Experiment with toy plastic animals in the garden (eg. make a jungle scene);
📸 Experiment with different angles and lighting to create different dramatic effects.
💡 You can experiment with your lighting (natural light, light from your mobile, bed lamps and the like) to see what works best in certain situations and experiment with the angles at which you take your photos (shoot from above, below, the sides, at right angles, and so on), how close or far away you are from your subject to get different perspectives of your subject.
Most of all – HAVE FUN!
Happy snapping 📸
